About Welcome to my blog! A little background about me and the blog: I am a tech, science, and nature enthusiast. I thrive on striving to live green and have all the latest gadgets and tech toys. Grampa-EV is a software engineer who works from home. I was a coder too. I took a long break to raise kids. Then for 13 years, I worked/managed a GM/Chevy online accessory store. Now, I am a paraprofessional teacher’s aide for special education at an online school, so I also work from home. We were early adopters of home solar panels. It was 12 maybe 14 years ago when we got our first panels? We have added more over the years. We had a slow ramp-up to our first EV, starting with a hybrid, plug-in hybrids, and then a full EV. Here is a link to our full EV Journey, should you want to read more. We have a Silverado EV RST – First Edition on order. We hope to become a full EV-only, no gas household. We have even replaced our small gas equipment with rechargeable battery models, including our lawn mower and chainsaw. I want to apologize for arbitrarily switching between “we” and “I” in the voice of my posts. While these writings are mine and the Bolt EV is technically mine, I am really part of a cohesive team with my husband. I throw in “we” because Grandpa-EV and I share most of the opinions and interests that I express. Buying decisions are always a collaboration. At this writing, we are days away from our 37th wedding anniversary. We have two adult children who both have made us grandparents in the last two years. My daughter has a son and a daughter. My son has a boy. My children both drive electric cars and have solar on their homes. Our whole family has a very strong background in Scouts, and we all have always felt strongly about taking care of nature. the planet and doing our part to conserve, recycle, and reduce our carbon footprint. Grandpa-EV and I live in beautiful Sonoma County in the Northern California Wine Country. We have a small, white Westie dog and an almost orange cat. We love to camp, have outdoor adventures, and take long road trips. We race small sailboats that we tow. We tow a heavy, two-axle utility trailer that we use for medieval fun with the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). We have a family cabin in the Mendocino County redwoods that is accessed by a very challenging, high-center, 4.5-mile-long dirt road. While we love our Chevy Bolt, it just doesn’t check all our boxes for our vehicle needs. We are hoping this new EV truck will do that. So, with this blog, I want to promote electric vehicles and clean energy. We (I) also plan to document our experiences with a brand-new type of EV, the Silverado EV pickup truck. We hope you’ll come along for the ride. We think it will be wild! Share this:FacebookX
